Crappie in W WA

Gentlemen and Ladies (I saw the fishing women thread).

I'm not here wanting you to give me your secret spots, but I'm lost without a place to go Crappie fishing.  I'm from TX originally and really miss fishing for Crappie.  Any suggestions on what places West of Olympia that hold crappie.  Unfortunately, I don't have a boat.

I've caught a few at Lake St. Clair out of Oly.

We used to catch what we called crappie out of Pattison Lake, but technically I think they were rock bass.

I was planning on hitting Pattison today but have to wait until next weekend.  I have never caught any crappie  there but I wa targeting bigger bass, which there are plenty of.

Chambers Lake in Lacey has (or used to anyway) Crappie.

Duck Lake over in Ocean Shores has crappie and so does Silver Lake in Cowlitz County.

I have caught them out of Kapowsin, Ohop, and Silver ( pierce county)

I've caught a few at Lake St. Clair out of Oly.

There are a few there.  BUT, good luck on any of these lakes without a boat, from my experience.  The only thing likely to be caught at St. Claire from the launch area are perch and the occasional rainbow.  Though, the rainbows generally taste really good out of S.C.

tanwax lake but you will need a boat.  Riffe lake, they get over 1 pound there . big deep lake you will need a boat there too.

a friend of mine's dad used to really clean up on them in st. clair right off the boat ramp, but i've fished that lake for years and i've never caught one.

there are some big ones in hicks lake, but they're hard to find, at least for me.

I found some interesting reports on warm water species by the WDFW. Of these four, the reports indicate crappie are present only in St Clair and Black lakes.

It might be to far of a drive for you but I have caught a lot of out of lake 12 out past the green river gorge.

Silver Lake in castle rock had them along with large mouth bass and others. Been many years since I fished it but they do have boat rentals.

There's plenty in lake sammamish....Redmond...it aint west of Oly, but ya never know. Good luck, welcome to WA. I catch em without a boat all the time.

Biggest one I have ever caught was out of Lake Tapps fishing for smallies.

North Bay Park at Duck Lake (Ocean Shores) is probably your best bet for a lake west of Oly.

On the west side of the park is a large parking lot where the boat launch and fishing dock are located. Duck Lake and the connecting labyrinth of canals are the perfect place for year-round bass, crappie and trout fishing. The park has an ADA men's and women's restrooms which are kept open until sunset. A port-a-potty is available by the boat launch 24 hours a day during the summer months.
