Hate starlings?

I don't kill Robins, but I know people that do.  Especially cherry growers.  They hate them.  Robins go along a branch and take a bite out of every cherry they see.  Wouldn't be so bad if they just ate one cherry, but they ruin the whole crop.

A guy I know in Cashmere calls them orange-breasted starlings.

Oh I agree Robins can be a pest too and they do the same thing to other soft fruits, but you know this state and how they can look at things.

I know for certain starling and english house sparrows can be killed at any time.  Crows can be killed during crow season but can also be killed anytime in the act of depredation.

Also Rock Doves (park pigeons), and Eurasian Collared Doves- the ones that are bigger than Mourning Doves, the ones with the black band around the back of the neck.

Got a Starling a couple of days ago.  Last week a pair of Eurasian Collared Doves began hanging around, and one of them made the fatal mistake of landing in my yard.
That guy does a great job on his videos!  and, yeah, I hate Starlings.
The mate to the Collared Dove looked around the next day for the other one, then hasn't been around since.

my dad is gonna love this. He logs hundreds of straling kills every year in his back yard ... perhaps he'll end up in one of these videos one day

 Yeah, they are mean little *censored*s.  When I was a kid I climbed up into a tree by our house and found a nest of baby robins that had their heads pecked off by starlings. They were the only "tweety bird" that mom approved of me shooting...

Come on guys, get with the show, here are some recipes;

Broiled starlings on toast
Cut the breasts in half. Lay inner side down on butter-greased broiler. Tie strip of bacon about each breast with a thread. Broil to a golden brown. Rub with oil or butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and a bit of parsley. Serve on buttered toast.

Roast starling
Dress starlings same as you would quail. Cover with bacon strips. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add a slice of onion. Place in roasting pan. Roast to a light brown. Baste with drippings to which a touch of vegetable oil has been added. Green parsley and water cress make a suitable garnish. Serve with mushroom soup. A dash of red wine won’t hurt. Serve two starlings to a person. they go good with beer.

Starling stew
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and fry in butter lightly. Dust with flour and add three slices of onion, 1 bay leaf, add a half glass of wine and water to cover. Stew slowly. When tender, set aside in a warm dish and let the stew-broth simmer to thicken. Then strain and serve.
