Anyone else see that Mt. Goat on the north side of the road, just before the summit of Snoqualmie pass (your left hand side if you were headed east)? I have never seen goats up there before, but as I was stuck in traffic, I was gazin at the cliff and right by a small water fall, sure enough a mt. goat. Got to watch him for about 30 seconds or so....just curios if anyone else caught a glimpse of him.

Was it near Sparkplug Mtn? I think that's near the Tinkham exit.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I have seen him in the past but never gave it much thought as to how many there are up there. I have also seen them around Pete Lake in the Alpine wilderness.

I have seen them several times right where you're talking about. On holiday weekends when the traffic is so bad, it gives you a chance to actually look at the hills for them.  I've even seen them just outside of Northbend right before exit 38 50 yds off the freeway.

Huh...right on...as much time as I have spent up there, I have always been surprised that I have not seen them....even though I was never sure if they were up there...it just looked like goat territory.  I will have to keep an extra eye out...I love lookin at those tanks.

Population has been declining there for too many years.  I've heard some pretty reliable sources talk about how the eagles knock the young off the cliffs.  Other than the big cats, I can't see why they aren't doing better there and in the Chopaka area.

I've also seen them above Rattlesnake Lake on the ledge and on the faces there on Mt Si.
I suspect this is no surprise...

If I remember correctly in order for a hunt/permit season there needs to be a sustainable population of atleast 100 goats in the area.

Many years ago there was a hunt on Mt Si but due to many hunters getting stuck and having to be rescued off the mountain the hunt no longer occurs. There may not even be enough goats on Si anymore as it is, but when they did stop the hunt it was due to the safety issue.

I've also seen them on Mt Si.  Nearly got knocked down by one, lol maybe off.  I was trying a different route to scramble up the backside of the Haystack and a young one came sniffing my way.  As it wandered off I tried to coax it over like you would a puppy.. Wrong.  He came bounding over like I had a big treat.  He stopped about 5 feet short. If he had hit me I would have fallen all day, and still be up there somewhere...

What year was this season you are talking about?
