If I remember correctly in order for a hunt/permit season there needs to be a sustainable population of atleast 100 goats in the area.

Many years ago there was a hunt on Mt Si but due to many hunters getting stuck and having to be rescued off the mountain the hunt no longer occurs. There may not even be enough goats on Si anymore as it is, but when they did stop the hunt it was due to the safety issue.

What year was this season you are talking about?

It's probably been a good 20/25+ years

Where you probably saw the goats is closer to the pratt river unit.  WDFW closed the Pratt river unit many years ago due to goats not being harvested.  What it came down to is inexperienced hunters not seeing any goats. The goats are there, but the terrain is very tough to hunt as there are no roads.   The unfortunate part of this is, If we stay on this path were people draw a tag and don't fill it the game department will keep taking more tags away from us. Washington has more goat in this state than any of the other state and the least amout of tags.  Its up to us hunters to tell the game dept. when and how many goats we see. So if you draw a tag, don't take it lightly.  If you need help, there are many guys out there who are happy to help scout.

There are actually quite a few of them that hang out on Mt. Si.

I have seen the with my spotting scope on many occasions.
