Colt + Kimber = P238??
« on: June 03, 2011, 09:39:29 AM »
So I was wondering if my Colt Mustang and Kimber Crimson Carry had a baby would it look like the P238??  :chuckle:

I just finally got my new Sig P238 in the mail yesterday and I think its a sweet little pistol! Ended up costing me $615 with shipping. I saw other variations here locally for around $580 but I couldnt find this one, with the 2 tone & rosewood. She has mom's body (the Colt) and Dad's looks (the Kimber) but she must have the milkman's trigger cuz it feels so heavy! I may even venture to say it SUCKS - but I'll have to shoot it first. Its a .380 2-tone (as you can see) with night sights, rosewood grips, and the extra mag with pinky extension. It really fits the hand nicely, especially with the pinky mag.

I like it but I dont even know why I really bought it? I really like my Colt Mustang and this is bascially the same thing so I guess that's why I wanted it. I think I will put the Mustang away and carry this new one instead when I take a 'lil gun with me. The sights are pretty sweet too, way better than either of its 'parents'' sights, very easy to pick up and fast to aquire. I like it - now I have to get out & shoot it! (and same with the Kimber.... I know I know FC, I'm killing you by not having shot that Kimber yet!)
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!

Those are sweat little carry guns, LadyBuckmark is serious contemplating getting rid of her "Raspberry" LCP for the p238 Rainbow...

Whoa whoa whoa! Hey now, are you saying I have a chick's gun??  :chuckle:   :chuckle:

Yeah the rainbow is really cool looking. My wife - who doesnt shoot or carry at all - was even a bit interested when I showed her this one. And she had seen my Colt a hundred times and didnt care at all!

Yeah, I don't get how you can put new guns in the safe without making sure they shoot first! It's a good looking little pistol, can you pocket carry it or is it too heavy?

Why did you decide on a .380? Not sure about the trigger weight on your gun but one thing I have found with the Sig's is that they are tack drivers. P220 and P229 have been great for me but the trigger weight on the  P229 has been a little heavier then desired.

Nope, just tiny hands like the guy in the burger king commmercials  :chuckle:, i would need a 2inch clip extension to make it fit my hands...

Yeah at 15oz its light enough to carry in my pocket, I have little Uncle Mikes IWB holster for the Mustang that fits in my front pocket just fine.

I didnt so much pick it because it was a 380 - I picked it because I like the Colt Mustang and it is a newer version of that. So I figured I could carry the Sig instead of my Mustang when I have light clothing on or cant really carry my 40 or 45 as easy as the little guns. Then I minimize the wear on the Mustang since they seem to be becoming collector items and are getting upward in the dough dept. Sig just recently came out with this super compact little 9mm I saw a few months ago that is about the same size but I dont remember what the model is. I'd like to check that out a bit closer too. But my next firearms are going to be an AR10, maybe DPMS Sportical in .308 and a Browning XT O/U in 12ga

Those are nice looking grips but a little too spendy for my taste. I dont think I could bring myself to spend $200 on any grips. Thats one of the main reasons I havent got Crimson Trace grips for my MP40c. Those are sweet looking grips for sure though - thanks!

Thanks man - yeah I like the Kimber too. I do want to change the sights on it though. They do not have any white dots and are just plain black. I'm guess that is since it has the laser maybe? And I cant believe how long the sights on the Sig glow! It has been put away in the pitch black in my safe for 2-3 days since the day I got it and they are still glowing bright! It is amazing! The sights on my S&W MP40 are usually dead after a few hours.

That's  because your Sig uses tritium sights and your MP40 has some kind of glow sights. You could put that Sig in total darkness for 5 years and pull it out and the sights would still be glowing bright!

I have had my P-238 for about three-months and I really do like it.  I got the "Gambler", (pic attached)  I have shot it several times - so far, no complaints. My husband has also shot it...and his opinion is the same as mine - a real nice little weapon.   The P-238 is light-weight, very concealable and very easy to carry. Hope you enjoy your new purchase.   :)
