Im thinking BIGINNER did not grow up in a small town
The Yakima river bottom  between toppenish and zillah up to bueana and down to grainger is loaded with snipes the best thing is the tribe doesnt require a permit for them if you dicide to hunt on the rez

I guided a snipe hunt once.  Took a young lady snipe hunting when I was in high school.  Snipe hunting is tough though, she didn't have any luck. 

I did.

     That's got to be about the funniest thing I've ever read on here.

if you cant go out and whistle in a couple a snipe with a gunny sack and flashlight then you shouldnt get to hunt them with a shotgun, its like a right of passage....

I remember my first snipe hunt, I was the hunter and I was determined, they are pretty darn smart though, stayed out till about midnight and never got a one.

On later hunts I took others hunting and it was a more successful hunt on those trips. 

Beginner, you really need to go, you have no idea what you are missing out on, it is a great experience, and once you learn how to do it, you can take others.

The key to snipe hunting is the vocalization.  It's kind of a cross between a whiperwhil and a Kildeer.  Sounds like LOOKUPHEEER!

Wish I could go. With all the grouse, deer and elk hunting going on now, I just don't have time to fit another hunt in. I would have been willing to part with a few of the Sasquatch steaks I have stinking up the freezer for a good snipe hunt!
