AZ August velvet mule deer back from the taxi
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:14:03 PM »
Last August I harvested a Mule deer in Arizona on opening archery day. he just finished at the taxidermist and i think he looks awesome for a summer buck... it was well into the 90's the day i took him. He still has his original velvet and summer hide, because i didnt want any fake flock on the antlers! let me know how he stacks up to the washington buck i should expect now that I moved to WA...
if anyone will be hunting in AZ, I can help direct you to some good OTC archery tag areas... some good coues white tail and mule deer running around...

Thats a great archery buck. As far as stacking him up against some WA bucks, not to many people on this site would pass him up ;)

Nice buck. It takes a lot of work to do real velvet right. Looks like he did a good job for you :IBCOOL:

Excellent taxidermy work.  Congrats on a great buck.  Don't worry, you'll kill deer like this all the time in WA... :chuckle:

I've got 10 points for elk and 9 for deer, sheep and antelope. I have just been buying points until I get up there. I just sent my stuff in for sheep and deer. I'm close for elk in the area that I want to hunt and for deer I'll keep buying points till I have enough for the strip areas. I would like to go down and hunt the deer rut for coues and mulies some Dec/jan with my bow.

I'll keep buying points till I have enough for the strip areas.

...how many points is that...?  I thought the strip was numerically undrawable short of a lightning strike...  DIfferent for a bow..? :dunno:

My brother drew 13b last year with 5 bonus points. It was a hunt of a lifetime, one I will never forget. You want to put in for units 13a or 13b. If you need an outfitter I can recommend one for you. Here is his deer form last November. Good luck on the Draw.
