Bud's Gun Shop
« on: June 05, 2011, 03:40:49 AM »
Does anybody have any experience buying anything from Bud's Gun Shop?  I'll be ordering my first 1911 in a couple of weeks, and they have the best prices I've found...but price doesn't really mean all that much if their customer service sucks.

they are a decent outfit, but i would suggest spending the extra 25$-100$ bucks and buy from a local shop or have them order it. more often than not you will get better service and your helping out the local economy

I've been looking at the same website. I'd buy from them and spend the extra money you saved on ammo. Don't forget, you have to pay sales tax on any gun purchase from out of state plus transfer fee and probably shipping. SO, maybe in the long run, you might be better off buying one in Washington. The democraps are really putting it to us.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I've bought a handful of firearms from Buds. Other then the recent credit card fraud issue they had recently, I've had no problems.

Yes, you will have to pay transfer fee and sales tax (although some FFLs have been known to not charge it), shipping is generally free. I would love to support local businesses, but none seem to be able to come close to their prices. Plus, from what I've heard, the margins on firearms are small, so I'm probably helping my FFL out as much as the local gun shop when I pay the transfer fee.

Not long ago many ffl would wave the tax however it is being enforced much more now due the heavy hand of tax loving gov. You might end up saving 100 or less using websites. i have used buds, one thing i like more about them more than others is they sell firearm models that only they carry due to their amount of sales

I buy most of my guns from Bud's and while the shipping is a bit long usually, it is also included in the price. Their service seems ok and my ffl is cheap so I generally save a lot going through Buds. If the margin was so small they wouldn't be able to sell guns to cops for half the going rate...
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I have purchased five guns over the last two years from Bud's and I think they are a great dealer.  They don't do everything perfectly, but they are usually very fast shippers, sometimes to a point where one expects two or three day delivery.  Only one gun of the five arrived after the shipment email arrived, the other four arrived before the email.

I also traded in a hunting rifle on a new Springfield XDm 40 and got a better price than I did advertising in the Nickel.

Thanks for the reply fellas.  Once payday hits I'll be buying a Rock Island Armory 1911, and I've been debating on whether to buy it through Centerfire Systems or Bud's Gun Shop.  Centerfire is cheaper and has free shipping, but Bud's is my back up...thanks again.
