What is a good, reasonably priced.....
« on: June 05, 2011, 11:16:51 AM »
I have an old Remington "Matchmaster" 513T bolt action .22 I inherited from my father, and want to put a scope on it, curious what a reasonably priced scope for it would run $$$, don't have much money, but don't want to put a POS on it...
Any suggestions ?

Bushnell banner series. They are a pretty dang decent scope for the money and I trust them on the smaller calibers like under .25. I have a 4-12 on my 10/22 and a 6-18 on one of the black guns. They have always worked great. The 3-9 runs like 60ish at bi mart the 4-12 like 90 and the 6-18 like 120. You can also find them on sale for less.

One that gets pretty good reviews over at Rimfire Central is the Mueller APV 4.5x14 x40 about $115 shipped.  I had one on a 243 that one of my hunting partners took 3rd place in a shoot with.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

on a 22 plinker a barska would do just fine. I wouldnt spend more than 100 bucks on a scope for a plinker.

if it will be a heavily used grouse getter then a nikon prostaff, redfeild, or bushnell banner. $120

On a gun like that I'd like to put something old or period looking on it. I wouldn't be too interested in putting a moden scope with dial turrets on it or something like that on a neat old rifle like that.
I think all of the scopes that have been mentioned are great .22 scopes...I just like to stick with what fits.

I bought a BSA once..... had to ground the tube inside just to get it close to zero.   :bash: wish i would have bought a barska since i was looking for a cheap scope at the time.
