The same buck 2 weeks later
« on: June 05, 2011, 09:43:29 PM »
I checked one of my trail cams this evening. Last time I was there was two weeks ago, and that time I got a picture of a buck from May 12th. This time I got a buck, on May 26th, exactly two weeks later. I think it's the same one.

Do you guys think this is the same buck?

Yes for sure! Like big p said, the ear tip on the right side shows that it is the same buck.

Yeah, I think he will probably be good enough too. I'm just not sure how to hunt him. Unless I can start getting pictures on a more consistent basis. Only catching him twice, in over four weeks, doesn't help a whole lot. I'd be much happier if I was getting pictures of him at least every other day. I think I will try to put a couple more cameras out in the same general area and hopefully I can find a trail that he uses more often.

That's what I would do. Try to get more of a pin point idea on his travel areas. I would say he will be decent for sure. I would say a 3 point, now you just have to wait and watch him grow :chuckle:

You can also see the scratch on his Left Hip/thigh in both sets of pics. He is growing nicely!

I think he might be elusive, looks like he's been around and in a scuffle a couple of times. Looking at the big scratch and notch out of he right ear, he's a scrapper. Might be a hard one to get to.

Bob,

How are is he from the clear cut?

Remember the heavily used deer trails along the grade at the edge of the timber?

That might be a good place for a camera.

This one is almost a mile from there, so I'm not sure if he travels that far or not. There are no other obvious feeding areas as far as I can tell. But I did wonder since I only got this buck twice in 5 weeks, if he is spending more of his time further to the east, near that clearcut.

Checked the same camera today and I got another buck this time, at least I think it's a different buck.
