2011 Idaho Black Bear Hunt
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:34:34 AM »
I thought I would share a few pictures of this years Idaho black bear hunt.  With all the snow still in the mountains, we had to work hard to get into the areas we normally hunt.  All the work was definitely worth it.  It was a great hunt and tons of fun!

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the pics. Whats the story with the live bear? Is that one you shot or another bear. Looks like a hog.

The bear that Dad arrowed was the large brown color-phased bruin in the trail cam pics.  A few days after Dad shot his bear we started getting trail cam pics of a big black color-phased bear on the same bait.  I spent 3 days hunting that bear, but he wouldn't come into the bait while I was on stand.  I decided to give that area a rest and hunt a different stand where we had 2 smaller bears coming in.  After sitting for 3 hours, to my surprise a very nice chocolate color-phased bruin came into that bait site. One shot from my Mathews bow and the recovery was only 50 yards.  It was a fun hunt and I look forward to doing it again next year!
