You can carry a handgun with you why you are rifle hunting and most handguns you can use to shoot the deer with. In the archery season you can carry one but only use it for personal protection. For the moose hunt, since any legal weapon is o.k. you could carry a sidearm and if it meets the restrictions, even use it to shoot the moose.

Yah thats a nice moose man.  Did you get that pic from a trail cam of yours around that area or what?  Its all ready getting harder to sleep at night and that is sure helping my state of insomnia.
I've spent most of my life hunting and fishing....the rest has been wasted

I checked last season with WDFW and was told it was legal for me to have both a rifle and bow in hand in the field as the tag is an any weapon.  I did wear orange while walking in the woods but on my two close encouters calling in bulls, I did pull off the orange once they started coming in.  Carried my bow and actually used my son to sherpa my rifle till he had to go back to school.  Bear open so if a buddy wants to carry your rifle, he just needs a bear tag to be legal.  Will get back to you more later.

I forget, did you get a bull last year?

Coug, yes.  With rifle although I really wanted to do it with bow.  Gave in to the pressure from home to get-er-done.

There are two folks on here who have asked as well.

I have hunted moose in that unit...  You can search this site on my moose story.  Most people like the South end of the unit because it is owned by private logging companies.  They thin or log it so you can see more moose. But there are moose all over that unit.
