Yeah they let some grizz go quite a few years back around Fourth of July Mtn. next to Leclerc creek. They blocked a section of road off where it paralleled the stream for a few miles and built a new road around it. I wish they would make an effort helping out the elk like they help the grizz and wolfs but thats another thread in itself!

I saw a grizzly bear while scouting for my Moose tag in the Selkirk unit in 2009. He was only 20 yards away so he wasn't that hard to identify. ;)
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Yes. Northport about ten years ago. Canadian collared bear I figured. Snuck within 50 yards and got pics with a disposable camera.

Scan those babies in.  I would love to see them .

Saw one by Rock lake off of highway 20 about 4 years ago. He came out on the trail about 70 yards from us. There was no question that he was a griz. Its the only grizzly Ive seen outside of Yellowstone. And a very cool experience!

25 years or so ago above Lake Chelan and one near Vulcan Mt. in Ferry County.

Me too (I think...)

Probably 18 years ago in the Sawtooth Wilderness North side of Lake Chelan. Steep steep steep area with goats nearby occasionally even under us... I was spotting the far rock face where we used to see Muleys come down so they could migrate thru...and I saw the bear, took two crappy pics with my 35mm at probably 400 yards... Bear moved straight down this boulder impass in literally under a minute, a feat it would take muleys five minutes to navigate. Bear went right over and down. I called my dad on a handheld cb to warn him since the bear would pop up on the game trail my dad was sitting on...reading a book. No answer on the cb...figured he fell asleep again... So I frantically packed my bag and started bolting down the mountain looking for my dad. I finally got close enough to yell bear to him and he scoped the bear at probably 300 yards directly across the canyon. He also saw grizzly. Scary big, scary fat and too GD close. Bear heard us, and scanned the canyon looking and smelling for us, then boogied back straight up the canyon and was gone. Whole incident maybe four minutes.

Wildlife wanted the pics.....and I did not cooperate, or share the exact locale...

What I remember the most is watching his rippling body as he climbed over nearly vertical  car size boulders like they werent even there... Scared the bajeezus out of me... Made my trusty ol' .270 feel sort of insignificant...

there was one hanging around sheep creek campground 7 years ago..fish and game told us we should leave...hour before it had come into a guy cooking at his cabin ..the guy fired a gun into the ground and it wandered off.  About 2 weeks later we saw this bear up above in a clearcut, loggers we talked to said they saw it several times throughout the summer.

When I was 13 hunting with my dad we watched one from a distance while bear hunting up on muraski mt on the Canadian line.

I have a close friend who has seen a couple in the Blues a few years ago.  It was by the wilderness and he was within 50 yds of em on his horse.  It wouldn't surprise me if there are more in Washington than we know of, maybe they are reclaiming their old haunts or something.

Glad to hear grizzlies come to Vulcan Mtn. area -- they could come to my backyard.  We get cougs occasionally in the Curlew area.  We're not the only hunters in the world!

I believe we saw one on the NE side of Mt. Baker a few years back.  We couldn't get close enough to confirm, but the tracks were huge.
Cut em!

It was one of those trailer traps. I pulled into a rest area next to this truck with a oversized trailer. said stay away but I had to look.. it was sleeping. They guys were nice enough to let me look closer . they say they do it a couple times a year. one time they transported the same bear twice within three years.

Mid 90's in the Pasayten.... we went in from Chancellor, just past Harts pass.  We had hiked in just above Anacortes Crossing, and seen a nice boar working down a slope towards a meadow.  Sat and glassed him for about an hour.  On the way out to Chancellor the next day we saw a tree scraped up about 10 feet high... not peeled... clawed.  Only one I know for sure was a grizz in this state.  Saw one in Idaho and many in Yellowstone.  When we told the Rangers at HArts pass, they didn't look surprised, first question was "Did it have a collar?"  THen wanted to know a location on the map.... This was back when they were still saying there were no grizzlies here.
