FOBUS Holster For Kimber Crimson Carry?
«
on:

I am looking at getting one of the FOBUS Roto paddle holsters for my Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II or one similar. Does anyone have any experience or opinions with these types of holsters? I want a paddle type that will slip into my waistband and hold the pistol on the outside. And I'm thinking the rotating type vs just a fixed one would be good for comfort issues, while sitting down, driving, etc, as well as being able to adjust angle that suits me best. Also curious about how well the retention is, like that its firm enough to hold the pistol in without making it hard to draw or reholster. Any advice you can offer?
I saw this one on eBay - seems like a good price to me.

My friend has the same gun with the Fobus. The retention is really good for no locking feature but I like the SERPA much better. The paddle SERPA is also adjustable for tilt and the lock is awesome. Plus you get the belt adapter also for when you have a pack on or something. The placement of the lock places your finger in the normal position when drawing and it will not come out unless depressed.

So the SERPA is made by Blackhawk right? I'll have to check it out too then. Why do you think it is so much better, the locking part? Or??? Thanks for the help!

I like the lock feature. I just don't feel comfy climbing in and over things in the woods without a lock. One hard fall or something and it could come out.
I also think there a bit better in quality.

the only thing i dont like about the serpa for carry is that it sticks out a lot more than my galco's. i will say that at the range the serpa is on point because it is so accessable and fast. i carry in a galco high ride forward tilt leather holster. super comfortable.

Did I show you the Serpa I have? If you want you are welcome to come over and try it for fit, for that matter I have a high ride forward tilting Galco you can try. I don't know if any of your guns will fit but I can supply some that will for you to get a feel for weight and balance etc.

The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Although, it did end just in time for soccer, which started Monday.... oh boy.... and I am asst coach on the soccer team. Plus I still have TOC baseball and All Stars games I have to call. Its never ending I tell ya...
And maybe I can bring that Edge over with me too.

It looks similar to the XD Gear holster I have for my Springfield Arms .45. If it is, mine works great. Low profile, lightweight, adjustable. Simple and designed well.

I have never cared for a "passive restraint" (retention screw) in a holster. I do not trust them to hold my weapon when things happen. I have use them for mounting behind my headboard of my bed, and in the car for a ready holster while driving.
Fobus, also makes a thumb release level II holster. The Israeli Spec Ops guys use this. I prefer the Blackhawk Serpa II, but that is just a preference of two different types of level II systems. I also like the Blackhawk Quick Disconnect mounting system.

It makes it very easy to transfer your weapon from belt to pack to tactical or any other mount position you wish.
Here is the Fobus

Here is the Blackhawk

Both are paddles, both are very good designs
