I haven't been out yet but plan on it soon hopefully. I hear its still a little slow. Jiggers and moochers have been picking up a few in area 11 (clay banks) I heard only two fish were brought into the boathouse yesterday BUT one was a 25 lber.

Taking a buddy out from CO on Saturday. First trip of the year for me. Still sounds slow, but hopefully we'll hook up with a couple. Probably hit Evans or the clay banks for the tide change. After that probably troll out front of Gig Harbor.

Had ONE descent strike on my jig right around the tide change, other than that managed to catch a real nice sunburn. :chuckle: Never saw any other action for about thirty boats. I wasn't out for the first morning troll, so I'm not sure how those guys did.

Talked to a guy in Wallyworld yesterday that was buying up Darts.  He has been getting a few around Pt. Defiance but nothing big.  He showed me a pic of a 15 pounder that he caught the other day.

That's all I ever use anymore. No messing with bait, constantly tying leaders or the constant doggies. Still troll with down riggers time to time, but jigging is so much more fun, especially when your rod gets hammered. The only downside is the jigs average $7 each. Dacron to a chain swivel with a 25lb 6' leader, slide the jig down the leader seems to work for me.

sportco usually sells dart knockoffs that are every bit as good as pt. wilsons, but are only 2 or 3 bucks each(at least the last time i bought them).  $7 for a painted slab of lead is highway robbery.

i always add a barrel swivel between the split ring and the hook, keeps the fish from tossing it.

in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Bigoontuna, would the barrel swivel work on a single siwash hook also?  Most darts etc come with trebles, do you know if trebles are still aloud for saltwater fishing or blackmouth?

i use siwashes on all my darts, usually 3/0 or 4/0 depending on how big the jig is.
