Picked it up on Amazon. Our RGS chapter head recommended it so I thought it would be good reading to light a fire under my butt to do some scouting. I've only thumbed thru it a bit but it looks good so far. It appears to have more emphasis on hunting w/o dogs than other grouse books I've read.

Hmmm... I am a serious grouse hunter, so I should consider this serious book.

i'll have to look into that one.  people usually look at me like i'm nuts when i tell them i like walking in and shooting grouse on the wing.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I just picked this up at a used bookstore:

Kinda pricey at 17 bucks but. It is the 1st edition from 1947. It is quoted extensively in the "Serious..." book.

i shoot grouse with my bow its good practice. i dont hunt them specifically but if i see one i will loose an arrow trying to kill it.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo
