Elmo (hound)
« on: June 10, 2011, 12:04:50 PM »
Wedensday 8, 2011,  Elmo died doing what he was bred to do.  Last Bear got caught him and kill him.  I will all miss him.  He been very very good to me since I trained him to be good hunter dog.
Since Washington took hounds out for cougar.  I can't watch him sit at kennel everyday.  He have a lot potentially to hunt.  I sent him to full time Guide who own hounds run, Guy came pick Elmo deliver to owner last May 25,  Elmo got on 12 bears with his dogs. Last bear kill him last wedensday.

 :'(  its part of sport.

Sorry to hear the news. Always tough to lose a hunting dog no matter what the situation- Paul
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

That sucks Scott.  Sorry to hear that.  I have a cur dog running bears with a guy right now and hope she learns a bunch and comes home safe and sound, but you're right.  It's a gamble every time you loose the hounds.   :sry:

Dang Scott, I'm so sorry to hear that.  I'll be taking my dogs over to ID next weekend.  I worry about it everytime I unsnap the lead.  At least it was a bear and he went out doing what he loved!

Yes I own last dog which is my top list.  Once if Cougar got back on busniess.  I will be more HAPPY to join and help on who ever draw permit and dog handler to go along and some who got pups can follow my leader dog.     I hope they put back this fall.

Sorry to hear about your dog, muley. He sure was a good looking hound and it sounds like he was a helluva dog.

Really sorry to hear what happened. My uncle never goes out for bear or boar without bringing some pitbulls with his hounds, but even with them its a gamble.
im just a country boy..hunting with hounds and training horses.
