Looks like a tasty fish to me....   :chuckle:  If you filet them, scale them first then filet leaving the skin on.   The skin adds a nice sweet flavor.

pumpkinseed sunfish to be specific
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

We used to call 'em shellcrackers in the midwest. Good eating if you get a mess of them.

That's a big redear! We used to catch them in Indiana like that. I haven't seen one that size in about 25 years. Thanks for the memory.

Looks like dinner to me!   :EAT: :EAT: :EAT:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Sounds like a nice spot.  Don't shy away from thinning those pumpkinseeds out as they will restock themselves quickly.  I have seen ponds that have so many of them they hardly get over four inches long.  And, they are tasty.
