crossbow/ firearm restricted areas
«
on:

Looks like I will be hunting a couple firearm restricted areas this year and really thinkin of giving a crossbow a shot. I have been a very active archer for about 10 years and have never messed with a crossbow. Anybody have any experience or advice at where to start looking at crossbows? This is the first year in a long time that I have bought a rifle deer tag and lookin to just change things up a bit.

I have been told from a buddy in Arkansas that a bow is much quieter than a cross bow... Without a scope it has about the same affective range. I will be hrifle hunting this year, and if i venture into a restricted area i will use my bow... It may be a good Idea for you since you are proficient with one.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I can tell you after having owned both, "Ten Point" cross bow and Mathews "Ultramax"..I would take my bow any day. After about 40 yards or so the short bolts from the crossbow drop off big time. And most X-bows are heavy

Gary from Riverside Archery here in Mt Vernon said he moslty sell them to people in firearm restricted areas that don't want to learn how to shoot a bow, but also don't want to piss off the neighbors.
