I have taken 8, 5 with my bow and three with a rifle.  It would have to be a really big one, realy unique color phase for me to take another one.  I just like chasing them with my dogs now and treeing them and taking photos.  I am going to take my 14 old out this fall and hopefully get his first one. :):)

Are you getting some timber company permits with the hounds?

Last year I got #13 & 14, and should have had #15. Missed a few over the years as well.

I got a permit for lions in Stevens/Pend Orielle this winter.  The bears I chase over in the Clearwater region of Idaho.

I've killed 2 bear. 1 eastern Washington in the fall and 1 in eastern Oregon in the spring. The spring bear was alot better eating, no fat.

The one spring bear that I killed had almost 4 inches of fat across his back. I didn't notice a flavor difference. Most of the bears we get are in August and September and they have 1/4 inch to none.

10 for me 2 with the bow, and 8 with the rifle, should be 13 but its hunting not killing.    My wife has taken 2 1 with the bow and 1 rifle.  Been on about another 1/2 dozen other kills with buddys.  I love my bearhunting!

Several blackies off bait stands in AK, a couple spot and stalk and one way too close for comfort..........  In six years (kids/people I took there) shot 22/23 bears off two stations..  The bears were well trained where the stand was.... :chuckle:

Done, unless I find a nice fat blond phased..... or a really cool cinnamon..... or just run into one on accident...... but really good at taking coats off....

20+, Used to get them some rugged but quit at 9 rugs. Haven't actively hunted them for 4 or 5 yrs. 50% or so were over bait with bow when legal, some I just ran into and visa versa also got to run dogs a few times when legal, I think I've only shot 3 since it became illegal to do. I used to run a bait pile for years and one year had 14 taken by people I let hunt off it. If I didn't shoot another bear it would be okay with me. The Game Dept used to drop off troublesome bears by my place.

I wish I had gotten into bear hunting sooner. We only baited for two years or so before it became illegal.  :bash:

I have never killed a bear in Washington but since I started hunting Grizzlies in Alaska in 1989 I have lost track how many.
I think as of fall 2008 I'm at about 10 personally and about 45 or 50 total counting the ones I've helped friends get.

Looks like we've got a few bear hunters on here :chuckle:

I've taken 3. Been on some hunts with other guys who have taken a few. Don't like to admit it, but I've lost 2..... which is the worst!

Zero. I've only seen bears in the wild once, and it was a Sow with two cubs.

I shot 2 blk bears years ago. I'm hoping to draw a spring tag one of these years. Don't care to shoot a rubbed out fall bear. I passed up two last sept while archery elk hunting. Both at less than 30 yards.

Wow I'm so glad there some bear hunters out there evening the odds for the deer and elk! :chuckle: :chuckle:
I love bear meat. We don't get a chance to shoot them any more but always have a bear tag just in case.  :yike:Blesses has shot over 20 with his bow but I've only taken 8 with my bow. 5 were book bears of mine and I don't know about blessed I know of 3 :dunno:
I think it's quite a challange and a thrill. They die quick with a good shot and don't get far. One bear I shot at 6 yards on the ground and I counted 2 1/2 secconds before I heard the death moan. When we tracked him he had gone 80 yards!  :o They are so fast !
