Special Deer Permits - Second Deer Tag (Hunt Choices 1287-1308)
These permits are only valid when a second license and tag is purchased. Hunters must use the method/weapon listed on their
tag. The second deer license and tag type must be the same tag type as the first one. These 2nd deer special permit hunts will
affect hunters’ accumulated points. Hunters' points will be used if drawn for this special permit.

I agree with that change.  If you want the tag, you have to be willing to give up your points.  I know that it is a change, but it seems fair to me.

maybe not a fast one but it is still a   Those units need to have does harvested.  So whats the point of deleting your points for doing so?  It was not like they had an over abundance of applicants for these tags now they should be lucky to sell out.  How does that help manage the herd?  Thats what these tags were all about.

I know nothing about the unit or buck to doe ratio there but I do know about points and how the current system makes it harder to draw.

So to me it is great, use up your points on those hunts. That is less people with points to potentially select my (one or two) choices with their 3rd or 4th choice.

I put in for one.  I have 1 point and I figure that I have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting drawn but I’ll give up a point for a nice tender doe.  If I had a bunch of points it would be a diiferent story.

I don't have a problem with the point part but why make you buy a whole new license? Now that is wrong...... Looks like one more way they are trying to get money out of you. Kinda like if you buy the big game hunting license then you want to hunt birds later on you have to buy a small game one.  If you buy the big game it should cover all of it. If all you want to do is hunt small game then you only buy the small game.

I understand what you are saying. I am sure it has to do with the transport tag. On animal = one tag.

Of course.

This year there was a F&G employee that raised quite the ruckus about putting a cougar on the front of the regs. She took it all the way to the top to stop it, but she was too late as it was already at the printers. Her beef was that it was a predator and they "always" put deer or elk and she didn't want the predator on the cover of a hunting pamphlet. They need to fire people like that.

That is funny These types scream and cry about hunting cougars with dogs and then they get that banned and then turn around and start vrying about how the cougars are getting scene in communities walking down streets and they don't underatand why.

I think it was last year that Oregon had a cougar on the front of their hunting regs, and a lot of the hunters on ifish were bitching about it.

It's a second tag that you are paying for. I think that's fair. Not sure about using the points for those extra doe tags though. I suppose it depends on how many applicants they get.
