Got a tag for unit 117 already booked a hunt with Bearpaw. Cannot wait :  :)

Any updates?

Not yet, we are hunting late November when we will see more moose and be able to be more selective.

Well I did get drawn for a Mt. Spokane Cow tag this year. I shot my moose at 6:00 pm in a clear cut on opening day. Took us a few yours to field dress and get it to the truck. Used packs and cabelas big game cart. The cart worked so well on the last trip down we were all lamenting that we even used the pack frames at all. This was over small logs in a clear cut and it was easy as apple pie. Down hill thank GOD!!!    Butchered some ourselves and took the rest to Double D meats in Mt. Lake Terrace. Very reasonable and the best summer sausage I have ever had.

Bearcreek lodge next to the park is friendly to hunters. We stayed a couple of nights in the hotel and then put up my wall tent in his camping area. Water and electrical on site :-) The owner is Sam and a sown to earth dude who is a fellow hunter. Grub in the lodge is good!!

Only down side to the trip was a pickup load of guys who had a youth tag would not let anyone pass them on the road. Driving real slow 10- 15mph . We both got out at the gate to log our entry to Inland paper land and he asked "whats up" I then asked him why he would not let me pass and I wanted to get to my hunting area before light.. Another guy piped up and said that they had  a youth tag and by God they were going to be first. I said it was not right to block miles of roads. They started the swearing routine and I choose to ignore them. No choice but to follow them and they did finally turn off to the left and blocked another road. We pulled to the right and parked to hunt and area I had scouted out. Other trucks came in behind them and they refused to move. We saw them later that day and they still not have a moose. KARMA!!   They appeared to be road hunting all day. Not one of them wore hunter orange. I hope this youth with the tag does not pick up his dad's attitude and hunting ethic. It blows my mind to think that some people think they own the trail, road or area they are hunting in. Overall a great hunt but I sure did not like the drama of dealing with this kind of behavior.
Molōn labe!

Congrats Sore Feet!

Did you get any pics? I am leaving tomorrow morning for the HangmanB area for 7 days to hopefully take my Cow moose with my Archery gear. How far was your shot?

Thanks,

Brian

One thing that really helped me was a cordless Sawzall.  Made quick work cutting bone where needed.

Here's something I never used to worry about, but in the last 5 or 6 years we see this in a lot of the moose.

BE CAUTIOUS

Moose hunters in WA need to read this info from Maine, 10 years ago I had never seen an infected moose in WA, now the majority of moose our hunters get are infected.
