Ghost Ultimate 3.5# trigger for Ruger SR9
« on: February 29, 2012, 06:56:02 PM »
Anybody on here using one of these?
I just installed it today, and it definately makes a difference in trigger pull, but not like I had expected.  Its a little lighter and more crisp, but no way its 3.5lbs. I think when the slide is off of the gun the trigger may break at 3.5lbs but when the gun is assembled its heavier. I think a lighter striker spring would be the only way to really get a light pull, but then you might end up with light primer strikes. Does anyone have this setup to compare results?

Unless your using it to shoot competition there is no way I would want a 3.5lb trigger on my personal defense weapon.  Just my opinion.

I have one of the SR9c models.  I heard they updated the trigger for the compact models, but I woudn't know because I have never checked out the full size model.  All I know, is if the stock trigger on the full-size is anywhere close to the SR9c... you shouldn't need/want to change it one bit.  Very light and crisp.  Hands down, one of the best out-of-box triggers I have ever encountered.

HAHA well they must have really changed the trigger design because my SR9's original trigger sucked. It still kind of sucks but its better. Its almost the same as my Glocks 5.5 lb trigger now but I think still a little heavier than that. I have one of the earlier SR9's.. 330 serial number prefix that was one of the early post recall models. Its got the round mag release button as opposed to the newer D-shaped one.

Yeah, I heard that there were numerous complaints about the original SR9 trigger (besides the recall) which is probably why Ruger redesigned it for the SR9c... but I have also heard that the latest full size SR9s have the newer designed triggers like the compacts.  I also know someone who sent their SR9 to Ruger and they replaced the trigger for free and he is much happier with the new one they put in.  Might be worth a shot to call Ruger if you are not satisfied with the aftermarket drop-in trigger.  Many people seem to like the Ghost triggers though.  I will shoot a full-size SR9 when I go to the range tomorrow and let you know what my take is on the trigger difference.

thanks nwpentax let me know what your opinion is of the sr9 you shoot and please note whether its the newer sr9 or not.. mag  release button shape and serial number prefix. I think I may call Ruger and see what they would charge me to have my trigger updated. Basically if its not almost free I would probably just deal with what Ive got. Today I went and shot about 200rds thru my SR9 and the trigger didnt bother me, but its definately not 3.5bls by any stretch of the imagination. My Glocks trigger is way nicer.
