Anyone use just a lead ball?
« on: June 20, 2011, 08:39:28 AM »
Does everyone use the fancy bullets...or does anyone still use the old school rough round lead ball?  I've always used the old lead ball, but never had to rely on it's accuracy way out there.  Just curious on your thoughts, if I should switch or not.

When I had my TC I used round ball lube and patch and they did the trick

I’ve pretty much given up hunting with my ball shooter.  Not because of the weapon’s effectiveness, it’s just so darn heavy to pack around.

I shoot lead balls at Rhondy shoots and that is about it...  or for plinking around at the farm - pretty cheap shooting that way
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Pennsylvania required a patched round ball and a flint lock for ever! Saw many deer effectively taken. I think PA has now allowed modern projectiles but still requires a flint lock.

Yep.  I'll be using my .62 T/C Hawken with patch round ball again come September.
