Pens weren't ripped open. The nitrogen poisoning from the dumping of all the water at Grand COulee was killing th efish in the pens. I heard that the company that manages the net pens insurance co. wasn't going to pay for any of the losses due to the poisoning. So they opted to release the fish versus having them die? Most of the net pens are fairly shallow and it was keeping the fish in the upper part of the water column where nitrogen levels were still high. Now these hungry fish are being fed daily and are scarfing up anything and everything. It doesn't take long to get a two fish limit. Great fun for artificial lure fisherman!
