Rimrock - Any Bull Modern Rifle Tag
« on: June 16, 2011, 01:06:34 PM »
Yippee,

The Boy just graduated from Washington State and hasn't been able to hunt with me for 5 years. He got drawn for the Any bull Modern Rifle  Tag - Weird just like me last year it was his Second Choice - He had 10 points. I only got to scout a couple of days last year because of my dad being sick and passing away. I hope to get over there a couple of times this year (money permitting) and do some more scouting.
Any suggestions or ideas on where to go would be Greatly Appreciated !!! I would really like him to get a chance at a nice Bull ! He has taken (2) spikes and seen dozens of big bulls over the years he couldn't shoot so hopefully it will be his year. His (2) spikes we had to pack out of a deep canyon - 7 1/2 hours on each one straight up - So I think he has earned a shot at a nice one.
It will definitely be great to be Hunting with him again !

Have you been in Yacolt for a long time?  My parents use to live there and moved when I was real young.  I still know some people up that way.

Evening, fellas.
I'm stoked about going back to Rimrock this year - drew a bull tag for the rifle season! We hunted Colockum the last few years and saw a ton of elk, but now it's "true spike only" and that stinks. We took a couple of spikes there two years ago, but now my buddies don't want to hunt there with that true spike restriction. We hunted Rimrock for about six years before that and I really like the unit, although we've only taken cows out of there. We usually hunt the Pinegrass, but I guess the bowhunters get into the bulls around Section 3 Lake and Conrad Meadows. There can be a lot of snow on that road sometimes in November. Do any of you guys hunt the moguls?

Anybody filled a bull tag in Rimrock recently? I'm not looking for honey holes, just want to hear some success stories if you've got 'em. I'm looking forward to getting up there to do some scouting. I think my neck is starting to swell up already!

I took a 6 x 6 and my partner got a 4 x 5 last year at Rimrock. Only got to scout 3 days before the season. Got the Bulls on the second day so i still don't know the area good. Hope to get over there a couple of times this fall (Money Permitting) also would like to get one week-end over there during the rut just to see if I can locate some big bulls

Still lots of snow up there,  took the horses up into the Goat rocks last weekend and but could not get very far.  The N Fork of the Tieton road is washed out at the bridge and closed.  Saw lots of cows and babies so that's great sign.  the FS will have it's work cut out to get that road open and the trails cleared this year.

Good job on those bulls last year, Thumper! Sorry about your dad.
The road to Conrad Meadows is along the South Fork, so that washout wouldn't affect getting there. Yea, scouting during the rut would be fun. You and your son should have a great time together. Good luck to you!

No. That road is further East.
