 :)Mini 14 and 'most' AR's have much shorter barrels than 24 inch, so they may be perceived to be 'louder' however I am certain if you had equal guns and a meter the 22-250 would be 'louder'. I like them both, I think the "range' one can shoot is over stated with either. No doubt the 250 is flatter!! If you have the proper twist the 223 can shoot 60-70-80grain,,  bigger bullets very well!
the real feild difference comes down to the shooter. If AR was my want I'd go 223, if bolt either will work good, I love 22-250's! Kill yotes real well :chuckle: I cannot choose I gotta have both.
