Boy thats a tough one. As much as I love Colts, that Glock is tough beat for shear reliability. I'd go with the glock for packing and killin schitt...

Just for clarification, isn't the Delta Elite and Glock 20 both offered in 10mm?

I have the Glock and I love it. Ive cleaned it once in a couple years and I beat the hell out of it.

ok.. i admit it I am not a glock fan i hear great things all the time but the two i've owned were not very good.. one was new and one was second hand. Glock would make more sense for a out in the woods gun then the 1911, maybe consider a XD45 same price range as the glock and carry cap..

I own a glock 29 and love it its also 10mm but subcompact 10 plus 1 but the full size 15 rnd clips fit also if you want more ammo nothing beats a 10mm

I would go with the Colt, I don't care for Glocks (personal preference) but I do like 1911's. I've been eyeballing the same pistol for myself. I would bet that the Colt is FAR more accurate too.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

If the Glock fit's your hand, I'd pick that over the Delta Elite. I've had both Glocks (29 and 20), a Kimber Eclipse, Dan Wesson CCBT, and EAA Whitness in 10mm. The 10mm can be a tricky round to get to cycle reliably with different bullet styles, and the Glock will cycle them all. The trade off is case head support. A Glock will be very hard on your brass if you reload.

The 1911s fit my hand better than the Glocks ever did, but they were much pickier about the ammo I fed them. I ended up selling all of my 10mm bottom feeders ( ;) It's just a joke, don't hate me) and went with a 6.5" S&W 610. After I hurt my wrists, the recoil from the 10mm out of a semi auto was just too snappy and would start to hurt after about 20 rounds. I switched to a 5" 45ACP and I don't have a problem.

1911 :chuckle:  more lead at target, you cant overkill something,
Huh? they're both 10mm's and the Glock holds more.
Shoot them both, pick the one you are more comfortable with if you can afford both of them.

If you do not go the Colt way let me know where you found one.  My nephew borrowed mine and won't give it back.  He's one heck of a lot bigger than I am.  So I figure I should just buy another, but I'm finding it hard to locate a good one.

I have small hands and short fingers.  Never could get the Glock to work for me.  As far as feeding problems - a good gunsmith can fix that in about 10 minutes.

Colt quit making them because they had issue with getting beat up by the 10mm round. I owned one for a while and found it to be temperamental.

Right now if I was to get a 10mm (love the round) I would get a EAA Witness. Probably one of the most under rated guns on the market right now. Ergonomics are great and are very reliable. BTW: Witness is a copy of the CZ75 if you know anything about them, you will not hesitate to give it a fair look.

Been asking nearly the same ??    I've figured when I can afford it, it will be a Glock 20 with a heavy recoil spring (suggested by Buffalo Bore, if a velocity spread of 50+fps bothers you) fwiw I really liked my Glock 30.

I'm pretty sure I saw a source for custom barrels that support the brass better...

The Colt would surely be nice to have, but for backwoods protection it would be hard to beat 15+1 of hot 10mm

I was seconds away from buying the  G20 but instead decided to go with the 22. I would like to have a 20 at some point.

FC - I had to check the copyright on that page to make sure I believed it.  Not sure when they decided to bring it back, but I myself will be ordering one very soon.  I really liked the original!  Sweet - Thank You.

Haha, I was looking into them recently! I really like them too, never shot one but being based off of a 1911 they should be accurate and point naturally for me.

I put 1150 lead rounds through my Kimber 1911 recently and now it's ready for a cleaning. Not one malfunction. That's reliable enough for me. So, 1911 in 10mm or 45acp gets my nod.

:yeah:
I'm also not a big fan of the glocks.  I have heard lots of good things about them however I'm just not a big fan of them either.  I do have a Kimber custom tle II though and love it.  If I can't hit what I'm shooting at in 8 rounds the next 7 out of a glock probably wont help me any either.   :twocents:

gotta see what fits your hand best. with 10mm it better fit your hand good cuz it will jump around lol.

i would definately try out the CZ too. great guns, very accurate. My buddy would shoot the rolling rabbit on the trap/skeet range at 25 yards pretty consistantly with his.

Did a little more research and it looks like they started making the Delta Elite again in 2010.  Stainless slide this time might be nice.  My old one sure put the hurt on bowling pins!  Never shot a furry critter with it, but blew up a few grouse before I learned how to shoot them in the head .  Sure hope they can ship - Getting excited!

Very true.  Some people cant get a good grip on some guns.  My buddy had two 44's, both the same model but with different grips.  One of the grips was way to small for my hand so I just couldn't grip it well at all.  Bad grip on the gun equals bad shooting.  Find one that fits you, that's the most important thing.  If you can't hit what your shooting at it doesn't matter what gun you have.   :twocents:
