An Idaho Buck from way back (1987)
« on: June 27, 2011, 12:01:50 PM »
My dad and I cleaned out a storage shed we had together and we ran across this buck he got in Idaho in 1987.  Thought I would post it up for your viewing pleasure.

Well, thanks for reminding me that I should have been hunting mule deer back in the 80s, not whitetails :bash:.  If I had known that the 80s were the "last of the good mule deer", I would have been chasing them :dunno:.
...And thanks for reminding me that I am officially "getting old"... :(

 :yeah:

And back then you could hunt mule deer in the rut without a special permit.

Fall of 87, start of my Senior year of high school.  Man I'm feeling old....

I put the "way back" part to be funny.  This buck was shot in southern Idaho on a special permit.  It was shot in October.  Somewhere around what I believe is referred to as "Black Monday" (October 19, 1987).  The older guys that had money invested in stocks will know what i'm talking about.

Well....DUH.... :chuckle:

It is still an awful nice buck that I had a lot of fun hunting.

Thanks 257, it was the littlest buck I ever killed with such a nice rack.  I didn't weigh him but bet he didn't weigh a pound over 140lbs even though he was real close to 30" wide outside to outside.
