Toutle tag holders

I would think that LC is about as good as it gets.  I could be wrong.  A guy named Charles Price www.gametrails.com has good maps if he is still in business.  I just pulled this off another map I have so unsure if he is still in business.

I drew a muzzle loader  bull tag.

My partner and I drew archery Quality Bull tags. Never been in the unit until last Saturday. Only saw one elk, but he was a dandy. Just had a couple of hours with the kids, so not really much of a scouting trip. We'll be back up there this weekend. Don't get that LC map wet the ink will bleed. Arnolds Maps in vancouver has Wayerhaeuser St. Helens tree farm maps. I got one there this weekend.

I drew the Quality Bull tag with a group of 8 members for the toutle for archery season. Only reason i put in for it was because of the groups desicion, Im excited to learn the unit but all 7 of the other hunters are not hunting the early season in the Toutle, so i am flyin solo... So i was hoping for maybe a few pointers or anything that someone could help out, that would be awesome! Good luck to all tag holders and pray for some rain that way it doesn't get shut down like a couple years ago!!

Bob's in Longview carries the st helens tree farm map. They go fast, when they get them in.
The logged the 7200 mainline at the south of the last bridge. Around Lake View peak area, last season.
That herd is probably scattered all over.
I got my bull up on the 1490 rd, on the top of the pass.
Lot of track in the snow up on elk mt. last year.

I drew the Quality rifle tag. Been up there once looking for access. Does anyone know how to get to the 4100 or the 4200? Could not find it. Made it to the 2410 and walked a couple of miles. No animals. All dark timber and no clear cuts or reprod.

Rick- As others have mentioned, the store in toutle has the map. That's where I got mine last year.

I want to say you turn right at the old mill and follow that road out.  It could even be the South Toutle River Road.  Its been a number of years since I came in that way.  Usually when I head in there its from cutting through the coweeman.  I could be wrong.

Isnt it within a rock throw from the village of Toutle?

Check the go hunt maps on wdfw web site, it will show the DNR roads with their road numbers  Plus depending on how and where you camp, it will help with knowing the dnr and weyco boundaries. 

When my group drew archery tags three years ago we camped on dnr land and walked into the weyco land.  The cool part was after we got one down we contacted the weyco hotline and security opened the gate for me to drive in and retrieve the fruits of the hunt.

Thanks for the info guys. That is the way I went in. Thought I was at the end. Maybe not. Have lots of time to find my way. Wish it wasn't a $100.00 bill every time I went down there but oh well just make the price per pound go up. Good luck everyone. Can't wait to hear all the stories and see the pictures.

You go down the road that is straight across from the Toutle store. Once on that road, you have to veer right onto another road (I will check road names on my map when I get back from Chelan tomorrow). After that, you just stay to the right on the mainline along the river. The gate you are referrin to at the bridge was open during my cow hunt last year.

The one thing I just remembered about my newer Weyco map is that the big chunks of state land do not have the roads labeled on the map.
