Should've tried squid fishing instead.

had a great day on the water. We got 5 total limits in 3 hrs. Took longer to clean, cook and gather meat.   8)
40-70' depths
baits used, slamon, turket, chicken. Salmon did the best.  :twocents:

As long as you can see the side of it, you're OK....  It's when all you can see is a big "V" shaped bow wave that you're in trouble.   :chuckle:

Heading out over on the NE side of Whidbey tomorrow.  My parents are here from WI and want some fresh crab.

Funny, we must have been "neighbors" that morning.  Pulled our pots right after they turned her around and backed her into the Naval Station.  The crabbing was phenomenal.

Yep, the early season has been great so far.  We limited in one pull on day 1, after a 45 minute soak.  Day 2 & 3 took two pulls and a little longer soak, gave it a rest on the 4th.  Lots of pressure on the resource though, if that keeps up we will be sorting through females and undersized males to scratch out a few keepers.

About the same report here.  Soaked pots (4) on Friday for a little less than 2 hours and were throwing back legal crab by the third pot.  2 limits of some very nice hard crab.  Not many soft ones in there either.

If anybody needs help pulling pots, I'm more than happy to make myself available :) Some of my best memories are letting the pots soak while out salmon fishing w/my grandparents...
