Huckleberry Hog
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:19:30 PM »
Here you go buck man.  Your right, 121 produces some impressive deer.  This buck grosses 194" and nets 185".   12" eyeguards make him a unique buck.  As good as he is, I have seen a few others running around that unit that make him look small.  Maybe this fall Ill chase a few of them around with you?

Not sure who came up with 121 not having any big deer.  I think it currently holds the next world record. Thats a sweet deer.

 :yeah:

There are some absolute giants in 121.  I personally was very happy to see the 4-point minimum restriction put in place.  When I started hunting that unit about 15 years ago it was 3 point minimum and we always saw a lot of bucks, and a lot of big bucks.  When it went to any buck, pretty much anything with any visible antler was getting whacked during modern season.  The number of quality deer we were seeing dropped dramatically over the next several years.

That said, the smart deer survived none the less and like I said there are some giants up there.  Great pic daydream, those eye guards are incredible!

I started the rumor about no bucks being left in 121.  I was planning on hunting there next year.  You see, Bfoots from the Blues that have run out of food (no more elk to eat) and are migrating north....

Nice buck Daydream...too bad he was the last one in there...

Nice!!! Here is another Huck Hog from a couple years ago. Still seeing good bucks . If you listened to all the 4 point advocates, you would think big bucks were extinct. I am in the field 12 months a year in the Huckleberry unit and there are plenty of big bucks that escape to breed.
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.
