need some help
« on: July 01, 2011, 01:31:41 PM »
I dont know what it is any more but I switched to a faster bow and I cant hit anything. At 20 yards All three of my arrows are touching, at 30 yards my first arrow goes high right, my 2nd arrow goes low left, and my third arrow goes somewhere in between. The most ridicolous thing is it does exactly that EVERY time. I have no idea what im doing wrong. I doubt you guys can tell me what im doing wrong with out seeing it but it doesnt hurt to ask.

It could be a number of issues.  Need more info...

1. What tuning has been done to the bow?
2. Bow specs: bow make/model, current weight and draw length?
3. Arrow specs: make/model, length, spine, point weight.

Sounds like you are pushing a particular arrow spine beyond it's limit.  Number your arrows and keep track of where each hits.  Let us know the result and whether it is the same arrow doing the same thing each time.  I can get closer to a solution once we have that information.

Sounds like your arrows are underspined , your current spine is to weak and not stabilizing soon enough.

bow and arrow set-up? faster bows require stiffer spine.

400 spine.  That's good.  Too stiff for optimal but far better than 500's and should still shoot well from your setup.  So now we can forget about arrow spine we have to look at what else.  Arrow rest positioning will make a big difference.  But making the same three differences every singe time you shoot doesn't make much sense.  If it were the Hairy Hole simply out of tune there would still be some rhyme of method to the poor flight madness.

As far as equipment related I'd have to take a look at nock rotation.  Make sure there is no fletching contact with the black bristles.  If you can not avoid contact with those make sure all three arrows contact in the exact same spot.  Next, GET THAT REST TUNED! .

And final equipment related thing I would check would be the size of the biscuit.  Too small or two large of hole can lead to inconsistent arrow flight.  If you need details on correct size go to Trophy Ridge website for pictured instruction.

Beyond that I'd have to say equipment may not be the complete issue.  Consistent grip on the bow and improper release form will cause a lot of the same issues.  If the rest adjustments don't fix the problem find a "Good" coach.  Someone with a history of diagnosing form related issues.

Good luck, Have fun!
