Hoyt Dorado Search

So I'm in the market for a Dorado. I've called the local bow shops near Vancouver, but haven't been able to locate one new or used. I found some new ones on Ebay, but id rather help out a bow shop closer to home. Has anyone seen one at their local bow shop lately? I wouldn't mind driving east to go take a look. I figured I would ask on here and same me some phone time of calling around the state. Looking for right handed 50# at 28". Thanks

Very few places actually stocking them.  Expecially now that Hoyt is pushing the Buffalo so hard.  I'm sure Archery World can get one shipped in without much delay.  You could ask to shoot Dana's Buffalo (62") there at the shop which would give you a good idea whether you might like the handle/grip before you order one.  However, finding one in stock at the weight you want might be a crap shoot locally.

If its the bow you really want any hoyt dealer should order it for you.

I appreciate the help. Ya ill head down to Archery World again and see if Dana would let me fling a few arrows with his buffalo. Ya i know any shop could order one, I just would like to shoot it first and compare it to the Gamemaster 2 i have shot. From all the research I've done, I'm 95% sure the Dorado is what i want. I just want to be 100% sure by shooting it.

You want the dorado for sure! I have owned both and now own a dorado Great bow mine is 50 or 55 at 28" Can't remember and don't feel like taking the limbs off tonight. I am about 1.5-2hrs from vancouver and you are welcome to shoot mine if you are in my neck of the woods. I have shot them side by side and can tell you the dorado is the winner. I like the buffalo but don't think it will make me want to switch from my dorado. I have not shot the buff yet. But shot the gamemaster gamemaster2 and dorado a lot Fred is a great guy and helped with the making of that bow, but they are always going to push the new stuff.

At 28.5" draw I actually liked the feel of the Buffalo better than the Dorado.  But I like limbs that "coil" rather than "bend" which the paralever limbs on the Buffalo do at my draw length.  Very much like the Savora limbs used to do for me back when.  That being said it also makes the Buffalo a little less flexible for multiple draw lengths than the Dorado.

Big plus for the Dorado is the availability of limbs.  With a simple fitting change you can use anyones ILF limbs on the Dorado.  Where the Buffalo you are stuck with the F3 or F4 Hoyt limbs. 

A year or two ago I shot a Dorado with W&W limbs and it was an absolute orgasmic shooter.  A buddy of mine in ND shoots a Dorado riser with Samik limbs and says he prefers it to the Hoyt limbs.  You won't get that choice with the Buffalo.
