Here is a great write up of the three scopes that i consider to be the best in 400$ and slightly under price range. I think this is common top price range for many people looking for the best glass possible.

I would probably buy a minox z5 here in the near future while the prices are good....if i didn't already buy a schmidt and bender summit.
