It just says Columbia county excluding rain water area. So does that mean you can hunt everywhere except the water shed, what about FS land? seems like very little info on hunting area.
If that includes the wind farms you have to go and watch a video to get permission, just a heads up.

Actually it is GMU 162 (Dayton) excluding Rainwater Wildlife Area.  Yes he can shoot one on FS land.  The wind farms are not in this unit, so no need for a permit.   Best Cow tag to have around here..   Congrats

That's a sweet tag then. I know of someone who got that too so maybe we might bump into each other down there. :)

Right on guys thanks for all the uplifting thoughts of the tag. My dad is 65 and he can get around ok but not like he used too. I do have rifle that will shoot out to 500 so hopefully I can get him on one.

The cow tag is a perfect way to scout for your future bull tag.  You'll get to know the unit, the road system and be better prepare for weather and terraine.  Take the time to scout and not just shoot and haul it home you will be glad you did.

For sure that is a big part of the trip for sure. I have been in the unit a bit but there is still lots to learn if I ever do draw. Chances are I may never draw. All I can do is keep on trying. 13 points and counting.

He tends to get around a lot better before he makes the kill, that's for sure! :chuckle:
