300 rum info
« on: July 08, 2011, 11:43:25 PM »
So from my experience i have had good results from my ammo, but have been told by what seemed to be a knowledgeable person that my round would not hold together or would destabilize due to its velocity and weight. your input would be great. 180gr Nosler Accubond 3325fps. Shooting a rem 700 26in barrel

I don't own a 300rum, but if I did I would use a 200gr. Accubond or Partition bullet. Higher BC with a 200gr. to go with the velocity would make a good combonation. :twocents:
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

I shoot the same rifle. Been using the Scirroco 180's and they are wickedly accurate and hold together fine. How has your accuracy held at let's say 300 yards?

I have to agree with ICEMAN, I shoot the 180 Scirroco's and nothing else. My gun has had nothing but these bullets shot through it, probably 300 rounds in 6 years...  They hold up well and have brought down 3 elk and 7 deer like a freight train hit them head on...

Not a long distance shooter but 500yds with be fairly easy with this set up... Longest shot with mine to date was 430 yds give or take on a 4 point rosie elk.
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Your right on the money, do the guy a favor that told you that and purchase him a current reloading manual (Preferable Nosler's latest  :chuckle:) Excellent bullet choice, excellent cartridge, I like Reloader 25 and Retumbo in mine. I run Accubonds in all my big game rifles.

This is a 260gr Accubond a recovered from a mature Eastern WA  Mulie I shot at 560 yards with a .375 Remington Ultra Magnum.

I shoot 180 swift scirrocos. They are the best shooting out of my gun.even tried reloading them and I couldn't tell a difference in those or the factory boxes of scirrocos. Other than price. Killed bears, deer and elk and the bullet performed awsome.

I should have went with the .300 RUM rather than the WSM. . . It will be my next rifle, probably shooting 200 grain Accubonds!

3325 is very believable. I shoot 3350 out of one of mine with 180s. I switched to Bergers for their long range accuracy and performance. Swift Scirroco's are a great bullet also.
