me, my dad , and my brother also were drawn for this hunt this year.  it is the first time for me and my dad but my brothers drew it in 06. and both harvested good bucks including a 150" with a 26" spread.  also in 08 a hunting buddy drew the tag and i spent a couple of days in the entiat with him.  we will be relying on the snow fall, in 08 we didnt see any bucks untill the snow fell, after that they started moving in.  and the road conditions were terrible even with only about six inches on the ground. 4 chains are a must,  if your having trouble finding your size, you could always add links to a set of 33 inch chains.

Coldsteel3d, I would lower your goal to about 150, otherwise you may be terribly disappointed if your holding out for a 170 buck. I'm not saying that they aren't there. They are, I've seen them. BUT two different seasons I had a tag and was holding out for a 150 goal and was prepared to eat my tag and that's exactly what happened. It's a great tag to have it can be the best hunt that you've ever been on. Just don't set yourself up for disappointment by setting that high of a goal. Remember it's archery and many things can go wrong trying to close the distance within bow range. Have a great time and keep us posted. I can't wait to draw that tag again.

Hopefully I did it right. I know of a 198 buck shot on the gov tag up there a few years back. The year I shot this buck my hunting partner shot a mid 170's and I got footage of a other buck in the low 190's. The year after I got it on video, we drew again and my partner missed it twice. There are two area's we have found that always hold big bucks, snow or not and one other area that is dependent on snow and it comes there are deer everyware.

Thanks for posting.  Those are some nice bucks.

The last time we drew the tag was 4 years ago and that was the year I shot this buck. I hope I draw it again before I die of old age and can still get around. I hunt Idaho every year and Montana, Utah and Oregon when I draw and this is the area I would spend all my time in if I could draw tags. The Books cliffs in Utah is also a good hunt, but tough to draw.

Here is a pic of a buck I took back in 05 out of the entiat, but I missed a bigger one 3 times  :bash: :bash: :bash:
Looking forward to hunting it again sometime, but will be helping some friends out this year!

I don't always shoot big mule deer, but when I do, it's with a bow tech!
