Does the yellow mean call before consuming? Really? Are you making that up?

Craig,

If you are in the same area as years past then it may not be a new bear, just newly tagged. There has been an on going study in this area for many years.

Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of tagged bears (both collars & tags) in some areas and most are not trouble makers.

Send me a pm if you want more info or have any questions.

Are you sure this camera is not set up at the zoo, I have never seen so many collared and tagged bears in one place :chuckle:

The tag color lets other bears know what gang they are affiliated with. If rival bear gangs are mixing in the area, you might see signs of black bear on black bear violence.

Interesting, did not know that. Considering my tagged bear was captured by my cam over bait she will not be in any danger of being consumed by me this year. I did email  WDFW to the attention of the "bear dude" and maybe I'll hear back if he recognizes my tagged bear by area.

If yellow is "may not be safe to consume" I would want to not mess with a bear that has earned a red tag.

What would a bear eat for it to have a tag that means may not be safe to consume???? How would they know that???? Was that bear one of those FDA testing bears????   :dunno:

From looking at the link it is not what they eat but what they may been given, i.e. drugs during medial care, tranq darts, who knows what. That would be a damn shame to blast buddy bear then have to dicard the meat for fear of contamination. One of the whole whole points of this hunting stuff is good lean and clean meat.

The drugs don't stick around too long I bet he will be fine by the time bear season starts. Its probably had that tag for awhile.
