for rifle if i wear any i wear football gloves with the rubbery grippy stuff on the palm side. they fit snug and grip in the rain. you can get padded ones that are a bit warmer too. archery if i wear any i wear these camo poly gloves i found with a little insulation in them, they breath well though..

You can't feel the trigger if your fingers are cold and stiff either, and it has nothing to do with being a wuss...it's about performance.   I've got a few different types of synthetic ones that I wear if it is cold out.   All of them leave an exposed trigger finger, because I agree that your finger needs to have direct contact with the trigger.   One that I like is a Manzella fleece mitten with the finger section that folds back.  When the moment of truth arrives, you do not want cold, stiff fingers.

I like the green wool type found in army surplus stores. Cheap, warm, light weight, and your hands aren't cold when wet. Also, good camo over your bare skin.

Standard leather work gloves...usually carry a heavier warm pair in the pack.

I starting wearing camo Mechanix gloves for predators.  Good dexterity and not to expensive.  I just kept wearing them all winter and they worked pretty good.

I started wearing them just for camo but found out how nice it was for riding the mountain bike, busting through stickers and brush, climbing rocks and so on.

I've been using the neoprene shimano gloves or the glacier glovers.  Good for climbing over things in the rainforest.  Just enough protection to not get cut up by shale and roots.  Great grip on them too.

They seem to sell them at most NAPA stores too.
