Ticks

Just a heads up guys.  I was at Banks over the 4th and camped at Barker Canyon.  The only bad part of the trip were the ticks.  I pulled 20 off my little buddy in 5 days and gave him a flea and tick bath when we got back

The most I have picked off me this year was 10.  last year after three days out, I came home with over 30 ticks .

I've been told there are a lot of ticks this year, but so far I haven't gotten any on me, even with the brush-busting I've done.  I saturate my boots with Permanone about once a month, and I think that discourages them from crawling up my pantlegs.  I haven't even seen any on the outside of my clothing.

I took my dog fishing with me, when we got home I pulled 4 off of him. I gave him a bath and bought Frontline and put some of that on him. I have not seen any on him since, and he goes a lot of places with me.

Frontline is the chit...that will keep them off. We got into them good one year over at Lake Lenore. Ever since then I apply Frontline to my dog and haven't had an issue. I just changed to something new, I can't remember what it's called but it prevents heartworm too. We're starting to get the heartworm out west now which sucks. This new stuff was pricey...$40 for a 3 month supply, but worth it IMO.

I took my ___________ fishing on the river with me and was pulling ticks off of her left and right.  since she goes out with me 3 times a week, she gets a bath 3 times a week. spoiled!

I sure hope the blank is dog and not wife/girlfriend

Yeah I hate those little SOBs ...I have about wrecked many times driving down the highway while turkey hunting and feel them crawling up my neck ....

how do you guys pull them out of your dogs?  i took my dog spear fishing with me on saturday, i took 3 tick off of him afterwards,.. took like 20 off of myself.  when you guys say you guys had 2o on yourselves, are you guys talking about the ticks just crawling on you or actually attached?

The only one of the ones that I had on me was attached.  But 95% of the ones on my dog were attached.  I just move the fur out of the way, grab low and pull the tick off.  I know that this can be a bad idea if the head comes off, but in 18 years of dog ownership I have yet to have that happen.  Usually a couple flakes of will come off with the tick too.  My wife doesnt like it but the dogs have never minded.

Biginner, how was the spear fishing?

not too bad.  the water level was high, and the fish weren't as close to the serface as usual,..so it was a little tricky to hit them,  i did wanage to get several carp though. iwas out there for maybe an hour or so.
las week i got about 14 carp in two hours.

I have only had 1 tick attached to me that I have had to pull off.  That was 14 years ago.  I swear I can feel those damn things crawling on the outside of my clothes.     You'd think with as many hides as I deal with I'd have had a lot more.  I make it a point to take a real good shower after I am done working for the day.  Sometimes I will stop in the middle of the day and take one.  I hate them little b@^*#&.
