55" washington Shiras moose finished ( Fireside Taxidermy)
« on: July 16, 2011, 10:27:12 AM »
This Shiras was shot late last November, and he is the same one that was photographed live the day before and posted on the site.  His bone measured 55" and 400+ inches SCI. The hanger is a large skull hooker, enjoy his killer tines!  Duane

Just curious--a rough weight would be good enough. Ie, pick it up and stand on a scale, then subtract your weight?  :dunno:

That thing is beautiful, definitely worth the once in a lifetime kill.  I'm curious about the age.  The points seem long and with that and the smaller palm, is this a young bull? No way am I putting it down, no question I would never pass him up. Just curious if this guy a couple years from now would be an absolute monster, or is this the pinnacle of shiras in our state?

I wonder the same thing Trophyhunt, just looking at the teeth I would thing he was a middle aged bull. Be nice to know what they come up with through the Bios. I beleive they have to send the 2 front teeth in off the jaw for aging. Probably have to call to find out.

Dang it that was actually my gut guess but put down 40  :chuckle:

awesome mount & awesome bull! Ithought the same thing trophyhunt mentioned & like him not trying to discredit the lucky person who got him but was wondering the age of the bull due to characteristics of his rack. if the bios find out let us know, beautiful work

Cool bull. This represents what I dont like about the moose scoring system. I like long tines and think they add a lot to the trophy but they are not given credit in the score.

Tine length does count on the SCI score.  After seeing this mount, I ordered a large Skull Hooker for my moose.  Nice work!

Hyde, the skull hooker worked out great for him, you will need to cut into his skull in the back to make sure the hooker goes deep enough to hold you skull.

Thanks guys for the compliments and He scored about 160 B.C.

If it were my choice I would take the tines over big paddles also.  Duane

manfromspam,
thanks for the compliment, the cost will probably range from low of $200 to high of $400 depending on the taxi and the quality your looking for.  If it were me I would always go and see someones work in person before I gave them a trophy like that.

As to a taxi in Spokane area, don't know anyone off hand that I could recommend, maybe a taxi on this site that operates in your area will see this thread ?

Also, the skull hooker used on this bull costs about $90 bucks.  Duane
