If loading jacketed bullets, both use .451 diameter bullets.  Cast bullets are sometimes sized a bit bigger, likr .452 for the acp, and some 45 Long Colts prefer .454 diameter.  Just a matter of what your revolver likes best.  If it's just plinking, .451 or .452 should work OK in both.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

You probably could get away with using the same bullets in both, but the 45ACP uses .451 and the 45 Colt uses .452. The .451 bullets are constructed and profiled for the ACP. The .452s would probably have problems feeding in an auto loader.

thanks guys

so if i found a bullet say a 230gr jacketed round nose that mic's out at .451 i should be good to use that for range ammo in both weapons

i dont have a problem buying and using different bullets for protection purposes im mainly looking for a cheaper way to keep shooting both pieces at the range and with the cost and limited availability of 45 colt reloading seems the best route for me to go

thanks again

At the ranges a handgun is fired, I doubt you'd notice any difference.  Tournament shooters might, but not casual plinkers.  Main thing with a revolver is to make sure the bullet is crimped well enough to keep recoil from backing out the unfired rounds and jamming the cylinder.
