I have lived all over that way and saw bears in that area long ago highway 9 used to be rural and a backroad, wouldnt surprise me at all.  A popular spot for bears was also the big fields in fall city over by the Herb Farm I saw bears there a bunch of times when riding, and we would see them on the redmond plateau when riding as well.  They also would get cougars in there every so often.  I know its changed a whole lot since then but I am never surprised when wildlife is seen in suburbia.

A friend of mine's wife (he is on this site) saw a bear who stood up on the side of Hwy 522 last week which isn't too far from Hwy 9 or Cathcart. Maybe the same bear??? :dunno:

It doesn't surprise me at all if it was true.  I just wanted to know if anyone else had heard the same rumors.

Last year my sister saw a black bear in Clearview by 164th Street.  He was right in someone's driveway but he took off into the woods when they passed him.  I've had neighbors say they saw one by highway 9 a few years before that, I wonder if there are few in the area.

There's more bear than you think around here.  I live near highway 9 between Lake Stevens and Snohomish.  I have a resident that's been in the strip of timber near me for about 10 years now.  The only thing I suspect him of doing that might draw attention is every spring the number of lost cat signs goes up from the high dollar housing development to the south.  I think they may be becoming bear nuggets when the kitty's venture into the woods.  The only time I notice he's in the area is when my dog alerts to his presence.  He pretty much stays in the brush.

I'm suprised, we all doubted the bear sighting the first time our neighbors said they saw one.  Sounds like there must be more than we thought over here.

I live in Snohomish near Lost Lake off Welch Rd.,which is just a mile or two from Cathcart, and we see bears every year on our road. We've seen them in the daytime, and at night. Last year I saw one in my neighbor's front yard right where a neighbor kid had been picking blackberries just 10 minutes earlier.
15 years ago my daughter saw a cougar run through our yard into the woods chased by the dogs. 3 years ago my dog treed a bobcat next to our house.
Two weeks ago there were 3 in velvet bucks in another neighbors yard. One 4x4, a 3x4 and a pinto 2x2. Sure beats the hell out of living somewhere else...........like Fremont. LOL.
If man was not supposed to eat animals, God wouldn't have made them out of meat.
