Well I guess if I'm hunting during the Modern season. It would be the rifle I'm packing!! Even when I was bow hunting it was my bow.

Guess I'm just not that scared of the woods or things that go bump in the night.

Besides a pistol hanging off ya is just that much extra weight.
If I just out scouting I will carry a sidearm but thats the only time.
Then it could be a 3 screw Ruger (41 Mag) or some kind of S&W auto.(40 Auto)

During bear hunting I'll have my Springfield XD with 13 rounds of 230 grain ball ammo. During archery I'll have my trusty 870 with slugs on hand leaning against the tree while I wait my perfect shot on a deer.

FYI, If your hunting a true archery season its not legal to carry anything but a handgun. Your 870 would be illegal....

what if your hunting grouse too? minus the slugs that'd be overkill  :chuckle:

I carry a big friggin' rock. I'd jump on their back and ride 'em like a bucking bronco and beat them to death with it.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I was messing around with a friends blackhawk serpa the other night and liked the but :dunno: I'm open to suggestions. 8)

The only drawback I can think of with the Blackhawk is that the plastic is noisy if you bump it. But with 40 days until the season starts there's no way you'd be able to break in a leather rig. It'd be creaky with every move you make. I have a Serpa for my G17 and it works well. I can't wait to shoot that 10mm.

I'll be packing my LC9. I don't worry about the 4 legged varmints, just the 2 legged ones.

i got a little freaked out late season archery because i had cougar tracks heading straight to my stand, it was snowing hard and you could still see them. My buddy told me to get out and walk to my stand a quarter mile in the dark, i told him he's full of it if he thinks im walking back there with nothing but a bow. He walked back there with me and daylight hit and those tracks were directly below me.

Wife caries the 357 and I carry the Springfield CD 40 with two extra clips and an attachable light, I have had bears charge at me at night and dogs three of them charge at me real close t o home and yes I'm paraniod especially in the dark, those who say they aren't are lieeerrrs  8)
