Too early for elk?

 Yesterday I saw a pickup parked in Mossyrock, during the middle of the day, with a dead 5x bull in the bed.  Wasn't a F&W rig, just your standard truck with your standard dead elk, except in July instead of November.  This animal was positioned in a conspicuous manner, as if someone were showing off their trophy. 

Too early for any hunt I can think of, and too far away from Canada to have an unprocessed carcass. Any ideas?

Probably some of my lazy road hunting fellow tribal hunters.    A lic. plate or pic of the vehicle and any other info. would've helped though, that way it can be determined if they were tribal or poachers.  Just because they look Indian doesn't mean they are and only Yakamas can hunt east of the Cascades.

Sorry my mistake I was talking on my phone, reading your post and trying type at the same time.  Mossyrock is outside of our area for hunting so not a Yakama maybe a muckleshoot or puyallup in that area.

The closest tribal lands are a minimum of 45 miles away from here. That would be the Chehalis & the Yakama are on the other side of the hill.  I'm thinking that this might be the result of an annoyed Christmas tree farmer.

My brother works for DOT & I know they picked up an elk that had been hit the other day on hwy 12 by Mossyrock.

Could be, this elk had a lawyer and a brace on its neck.

Actually that was probably it.  Poachers usually don't park on Main St with a dead elk in the back.
