New proposals to limit gun rights
« on: June 15, 2008, 12:49:15 PM »

WASHINGTON:  Seattle Mayor Brazenly Attacks Right-to-Carry!  In a knee-jerk reaction to a recent shooting, Mayor Greg Nickels signed an executive order on Monday, June 9 prohibiting firearms at Seattle Center, parks, community centers, and city-owned buildings.  This ban, which includes Right-to-Carry permit holders, does not require review by the City Council and directs that a plan be drawn-up in 30 days to establish the prohibition.  Mayor Nickels' ban is a clear violation of Washington State's preemption statutes, which say that only the State Legislature can enact laws pertaining to firearms.  It is important that NRA members, Right-to-Carry permit holders, firearm owners, and anyone interested in the rule of law respectfully make their voice heard against this unlawful proposal.  Please contact Mayor Nickels, write a letter to your local newspaper(s), call in to radio talk shows, and urge your legislators to speak out against this unwarranted attack on law-abiding gun owners.  For contact information, please click here.

Montesano City Council Follows in Seattle's Footsteps, Bans Concealed Carry!  On Tuesday, June 10, the Montesano City Council voted 4-3 to enact a new parks ordinance banning the carrying of concealed firearms in the city's parks.  This move, similar to that of Seattle's, is a flagrant violation of Washington's preemption statutes.  Councilmen Albert Collins, Chris Hutchings, and Nick Swinhart opposed the ordinance while Councilmen Chris Thomas, Doug Streeter, Pat Herrington and Rich Klinger voted in favor of it. Please contact the mayor of Montesano, Mayor Ron Schillinger TODAY and respectfully urge him to oppose this violation of state law and this unjust and unwarranted attack on our right to self-defense and Second Amendment freedoms.  Mayor Schillinger can be reached by phone at (360) 249-3021, ext. 102 or via email at mayor@montesano.us.  Also, please contact the members of the City Council and respectfully ask them to reconsider this illegal and unjustified measure.  They can be reached by phone at (360) 249-3021, ext. 109 or email lwolverton@montesano.us with an attention to the desired council member(s).
When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

Every time I tell people that these sort of acts are infectious nobody believes me

"It'll never happen here"

That goes for lead bullet bans more hunting bans and more firearms restrictions and bans.

Wait to see if a democrat get's in office. They'll be looking to squash the 2nd amendment at the national level. I can see this especially if Obama wins.

Global warming is definitely a scam from my point of view. Every 5 or 10 years the media and politicians have to invent a new catasrophe for the human race. We must be on a crash course with whatever they want to beat a drum to.... Then they get everybody to jump on the bandwagon. I remember in the 1980s when they used to tell us that aids would wipe out the world population by now. They tried that with SARS and bird flue which didn't work out. Then they got really attached to global warming. Why not? it has a feel good about yourself agenda. Then when they found out things were not always on a warming trend they decided to rename the hysteria "climate change".

anyway...

If you look into this further, he stated that it was a rule and not a law. He knows what the second says and he has stated that he is not trying to violate it. Just a Rule for now. It may get worse but not to panic just yet.

Global warming, why they can't even accurately predict the weather for tomorrow, let alone in 10 years. Who are these biased pseudo-scientists and left wing politicos kidding?

When I first heard about all of this, I shot off (no pun intended) an Email to the NRA. When I received the NRA-ILA alert Email back from them, almost the whole 1st paragraph was word for word what I wrote. Kinda makes you feel good that even as big as the NRA is, they still listen to members.  :)

I guess I will have to disagree with the majority on this post. Global warming isn't a scam, I actually have done 100's of hours of research in that area from polar ice cap thinning to ocean levels rising in temp and volume. Watch the one degree factor, ignore the hype and media, try and look at the facts. You are correct in thinking that this has been drug out by the media, but only in one way, uneducated facts. I've been fortunate enough to be part of several grants that have let me help educate my students. I have taught environmental science at the college level with great success. I don't want to get into a huge debate with you but I'm a scientist by degree, and I have learned that you have to put aside your opinion and look at the facts, not what your buddies say or what sounds cool. I hate to say Global Warming is true, are we going to die tomorrow, no. As for Aids, it has killed more people than all the wars combined and the black plague on top of that, by the year 2010 it will have killed over 21 million people, your correct not near the 7 billion that area on our planet, but a significant portion. Just because its not happening in your back yard doesn't mean that it isn't happening. Parts of Africa have Aids percentages climbing near 50%  :'( Just wanted to say my two bits.  ;) With all that said trust me I'm not a tree hugger, I just want our planet to be here so my daughters can enjoy it opportunities like I have. I would hate to say to my grand children, there use to be this great carnivore called the polar bear, but because of our ignorance and greed we let them go extinct. The greatest conservationist are the greatest hunters.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Global warming is not the debate. Man caused global warming is.

There are too many scientist on both sides to say the science is settled.  The models most are using can not even match historical knowns.  For instance, the UN's model did not even use el nino and la nina and other widespread atmospheric variables in their models.  Most people forget they were growing grapes in Greenland prior to the 12th century.  6 centuries prior to the industrial revolution.

There has been no warming observed in the last 10 years, according to the NASA satellites.  The man caused assumption, that the politicians are willing to tax the world for billions of dollars makes me suspicious.  The politicians will seek only the science that agrees with them so that they can get their hands on that much money. Additionally, they have the carbon market now, which has made that market a place to make money so that too taints the focus of their science.

I don't say it is not possible, but I do say it is too early to hamstring the western worlds economies in response to the limited science.

If you pay attention to the Kyoto Protocols, they limit the developed WESTERN world.  No wonder the rest of the non-western world was so much in support.

TeacherMan, not to challenge you with any malice, but have you read the contrary science that is out there?    There is a substantial amount of data that comes to contradictory results, which only means the conclusion is, we don't know.

As a scientist, I would hope that you would want to look at all the data and the research that challenges your conclusions.  As Descarte would implore you, be skeptical of everything.

I have references if you are interested.

With the best regards,

Nobody I know has aids. Not sure I am worried at the moment. Nobody that I am aware of which I have known previously as a friend or in my family has or had aids. I have seen that a lot of people who (not all) contract the disease seem to get it from behaviors which they can avoid. Aside from blood doning or accidents of course. What I mean is people having sex with other people who are promiscuous, needle sharing and dirty tattoo needles (needle sharing of another form). In Africa people who have aids have sex and are irresponsibly passing it on to their partners and new born kids. Of course these behaviors would cause the numbers of aids to grow to epidemic proportions but when looking at the problem in my back yard it is better contained. If contained is the correct word for such a thing. I know that if I am careful (not hard to do) to avoid needles which are dirty, kissing people who I don't know (not happening), do not get blood transfusions (Not in need of any at the moment) and do not have unprotected sex with random strangers then I will be better off (I have a wife so that is not likely).

As far as global warming is concerned. Yeah scam. Look at that idiot Al Gore and his carbon spewing mansion. What a friggin hypocrite. He's hoodwinked a lot of people! He also wants them people to buy carbon credits from a company that he has large investments in: http://seaspook.blogspot.com/2007/08/inconveient-facts-for-al-gore.html

Emperor Nickels the Pink. His order is the definition of Knee Jerk. But I don't believe it will stand up to a legal challenge.  All this clown wants is to be famous after he leaves office, which can't happen soon enough >:(

I want the global warming people to tell me why my garden froze August 31?  Between the deer, the wild turkeys and Al Gore, it ain't a winning situation.

Global Warming isn't about turning the whole planet into San Diego in July and it doesn't mean you wont see freak events like an August freeze or a May snow squall. Or the July 31st snow fall I saw on one camping trip.

GW is about frozen Sea ice melting into the ocean and changing the temp a few degrees. The Earths weather patterns are driven by ocean temps and currents. Ironically, melting Polar ice may be the cause of your garden freeze.

As far as being man caused? Ya gotta wonder. Right now, RIGHT NOW How many Gas-Diesel Boats, Planes, Trains,Automobiles, Lawnmowers are running? How many Coal fired power stations? Forest fires, Campfires, Wood stoves?  There's a lot of countries clearing trees like there's no tomorrow and not replanting.

I'm not really concerned about it. I'm being selfish. Past middle age, leaving no one behind :twocents:

Uh-ummm Gun Rights, ya that was the topic huh?
Nickles is a goof that can't disappear fast enough.

I just want the GW alarmist crowd to explain the melting polar regions on Mars and other planets in our Solar system.  Once they do that and stop dismissing the sun as a major player in the GW debate, then maybe I can listen to some of their silly claims.

I wonder how Greenland was once forrested, before man was around?
