Summer Scouting
« on: July 24, 2011, 11:29:50 AM »
Just got home form a quick scouting trip.  Saw quite a few bucks, and was able to catch a few with the camera.  Sorry for poor quality, as these were taken from several hundred yards away using my binos and point and shoot.  Take a look at the buck bedded down.  Nice rack, pictures don't do him justice.  Probably 25-28" wide.  Nice 3-pt with him.  There were 3 other bucks in this group, all small 2 pts.  Saw anther group the night before with a couple dandy bucks.  On the way out after a long morning hike we spooked another buck out of the drainage below us.  Could't get the camera up fast enough, but I would put my money on it that it was pushing 30"  :yike:.  Made the one bedded down look like a small fry.  Had a great time and can't wait to get back up there for a couple more trips before the season.

That terrain does not look like a walk inthe park, not bad going up but no fun going up but that is where big ones are up in nasty slide rock

:chuckle:  Yeah, would have to come up with a serious game plan for getting down and then back out if I went for any deer in this area.  Was awesome to see though.  Wish I would have got pictures of the last one we saw.  Hoping he likes his area and sticks around for the season.   :mgun:

Looks like a great buck!  :hunter:
