Best buck this summer
« on: July 24, 2011, 11:10:54 PM »
I'm almost embarrassed to post this after all the really big bucks people have been posting, but this is the best I've seen in my area so far this year. I do wish the picture was a little more clear, but at least it was close and looking right at the camera. Time to invest in some better cameras I guess.

its not the size of the buck, its how you shoot it
in my experience the huge ones really really go into hiding come season where the medium one hide but not as much so better chances of bagging them.plus as dad always says you can't eat the horns.

For being a blacktail and being close to home, this one's plenty big enough for me. I'd be more than happy to bring him home. But I know finding him during season will not be easy. I sure hope he allows himself to be photographed at least once more, so I can see how many points he has. I see three for sure on one side, but the other side I can't tell.

Good looking buck bobcat, thanks for sharing.  Hope to see some more of him.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

That's a great blacktail I filled my 2010 tag on one that was real similar on the second day of the season.  I have some real nice Blacktail bucks coming into a new spot on my trail cams ten min from the house as well,  I was planning on going after the mulies in the Sherman unit but, I picked up my wife up a bow and she's loving it so I'm more excited about filling her tag, I think I'll stay home on the wet side again this year you can't beat hunting close to the house it can let you be a little more picky and hunt more day's.  I've hunted Mulies Whitetails and Blacktails I don't care what guys think getting a 3 point blacktail with your bow is a trophy :twocents:.  I got a question for you I've seen you have spoken well of the Tascos before are they starting to wear out?   I don't own any my self curious on your thoughts.

Nice looking buck should be tasty!!

The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
