The ones you are mentioning that shoot past 150 yds are shooting with 209 primers, pyrodex pellets ( 150 gr) plus scopes.
Washington has different regs. No 209 primers, no optics. So limited to around 100 yds. 150 yds would be pushing it. My farthest shot was around 130 yds on a cow elk. I like 100 gr triple 7 powder with RWS musket caps. I think the musket caps not hot enough to shoot the pyrodex pellets accurately. Have experimented quite a bit with them ( pyrodex) with my Knight Big Horn and CVA and shot much better with the triple 7 lose powder:twocents:
